Considering myself for the most part a pretty happy easy going type, void of any serious disorders, my life has been turned upsidedown. Although shes never been diagnosed, she is old enough now, in her low stages , to admit the problems are real, and have existed for years. Many ex boyfriends calling her bi polar has not helps with her exceptance of her condition.. I guess i just need to say out to the web of concerned folks, that all the information from proffesionals and average joes like me, has been a great resource and comfort. For now i do realize , that reguardless of amything,, the most important thing at hand is for "" me "" to adjust my own coping mechanisms, and if love is true, that the succsess of our relationship isnt soley based on her treatment, but my ability to fully understand why she is the way she is. Having a brother and sister with serious mental and substance issues, has no doubt prepared me for what most likely is a life long struggle . I could just have wrote this to myself, but its theraputic in a sense to feel some connection with others in the same boat. Some of us just never give up, i'm stubborn thst way, and intend to be as supportive as possible.. Thanks . Im pretty sue im bpd but i haven't been diagnosed yet. I have an appointment set up for an evaluation next week. I just want too clarify that borderlines are people to. dealing with a mental illness like bpd is hard for both parties. Its selfish to blame someone.suffering because of your pain. from my point of view its hard or impossible for a borderline to control themselves emotionally. they can't. there emotions go up.and down and they get angry and say things that are awful. Its an awful illness but borderlines are people thats like saying borderlines don't have soulsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3478275993537591735.post-48065664823173420882010-03-06T00:27:37.606-05:002010-03-06T00:27:37.606-05:00I think some do. Still had problems accepting responsibility, but he knew he was miserable and wanted desperately not to be, so he tried different therapies, meds, etc.

Of course this ended the way it always does--everything you said about the craziness is true. He did all the things you talk about. However, he is trying some new therapies, and I hope they work, because I can say after spending so much time talking with him that he is more miserable than he ever made me. (And don't get me wrong, I've cried many a tears over this.) I pray for his recovery, because I learned that underneath it all, he wants to be a good and kind person. At the moment, he just can't be.

Thanks for the blog. It's enlightening and helpful.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3478275993537591735.post-5993183048236612622009-11-09T14:11:35.768-05:002009-11-09T14:11:35.768-05:00If borderlines don't /can't know they are ...If borderlines don't /can't know they are borderline, then why are there so many of them who enter into recovery programs? Why are there websites run by them to help look for solutions? This is one helluva broad brush stroke you're painting.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3478275993537591735.post-60483753459253003902009-10-08T16:18:28.041-04:002009-10-08T16:18:28.041-04:00Id venture to say that most borderlines dont know ...Id venture to say that most borderlines dont know theyre borderline. Since its a personality disorder its so deeply ingrained in WHO they are they cant even see it. I also think in some cases they simply CANT face the possibility that maybe its them and not us. To admit that would fracture what small control they have of their own chaotic self image. To discover it really is them would turn them inside out and that cant and wont happen.
Seems like there was some old Indian proverb about a snake and an owl. It was about the futile conversation of a snake and an owl. The snake swears he's an owl, the owl tries to convince the snake he's really a snake. Never having seen his reflection the snake argues to the point of frustration that no he is an owl. The owl points out to the snake that he has no feathers, no beak, cant fly how could he be an owl? The snake doesnt listen, only continues that he is an owl.
Its the same when trying to convince someone they have BPD. You can show them all the evidence in the world but their sense of self and normalcy DEPENDS on their reality being normal and YOU being off. They MUST be the owl, for being a snake would shatter them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
